Where do you buy your domain names ?

Where do you buy your domain names ?

Postby server_guy » Wed Oct 22, 2008 12:58 pm

Do you go for the cheapest place ? do you go for a reliable source ? do you buy in bulk ?
I use money that I get from the net - mostly selling my old things on ebay, and then buy domain names with it - I have about 10 domains just now - some are working sites, most are not, I always buy my domains from the same place (its not godaddy) but I was wondering where you buy them from and why you buy them from there.

Cool, I used to use 1and1 for my work - we had the top package and could add any domain we wanted to it. It was very easy to add extra domains to their packages and has a very nice interface (especially if you want to print off reports for your boss!!) I would use them, but they are a bit expensive unless you go for the top package and split it between twenty or so domains =)

Expensive?  It doesn't get cheaper than 7 dollars per domain.

lol, yeah, the domains them selves are cheap, I was talking about the business multi-domain package that they do - unlimited storage, bandwidth and domain names (I think the domain names cost you about 3 dollars each when you go with that package, and you get ten free ones - at least you used to when i dealt with them. but its worth paying for it if you have a lot of domains that you manage, etc.

Seven dollars is cheap for a domain name. I'm used to paying about $20 apiece for mine from the place I register with. I'll have to try this 1and1 place out.

The last time I registered a domain name was with GoDaddy. I've used them for many years now and despite the horrible reputation they have all over the internet, I have never had a single problem with their servers or their customer service.

it is compared to $2.99 for a .com and $1.99 for a .co.uk =)
but you just have to look about to find the right price. I bought a couple of .com's for $8.95 and then found out I could get them for $2.99. since then I've bought a few just to park them =)

Where?  I've never seen anybody offer 2.99 domains besides .info.

Well I just read on another forum that GoDaddy is offering domains for $1.99 and you don't have to purchase anything to get that price. I can't find the coupon code or the page for the special though :(

It's probably .info.  And even then that's for the first year only probably.  Renewal fees are probably high.  And besides godaddy charges separate for private registration.  And I don't even know if they allow mx records change.  So 7 a year is not bad.

@Katana: The domain names that GoDaddy offers for $1.99 are any TLD (Tom, you're wrong about just the .info domain)

From GoDaddy:

Products must be new to the customer (not currently owned) to qualify. One 1 yr $1.99* .com, .us, .mobi**, .biz, .net, or .org domain per each qualifying product; new, transfer or renewal. Recurring billing charges, existing product, domain renewals, domain backorders, premium domain names and domain registration products (such as Privacy, Business Registration, Express Appraisals, Certified Domain, Domain Ownership Protection and CashParking), Gift Cards, photo prints and merchandise, and some "add-on" companion products (such as additional hosting bandwidth and storage) do not qualify as product purchases. Only qualifying domain names included in qualifying purchases are subject to discount.

WHACK! He flies out of his chair, tumbles across the kitchen floor, gets up, and runs upstairs crying his eyes out, with his mother in hot pursuit,Alexander wang sale

slapping his rear every step. The mom locks him in his room and shouts "You can just stay there till I let you out!"

She then comes back downstairs, looks at the 4-year-old, and asks with a stern voice, "And what do YOU want for breakfast young man?

"I don't know," he blubbers, "But you can bet your ass it won't be Cheerios

Make it off the island

Postby salenfl35 » Sun Jul 25, 2010 10:12 am

Make it off the island
There were three people stranded on an island, a brunette, a redhead, and a blonde. The brunette looked over the water to the mainland and estimated about 20 miles to shore. So she announced, "I'm going to try to swim to shore." So she swam out five miles, and got really tired. She swam out ten miles from the island, and she was too tired to go on, so she drowned.

The second one, the redhead, said to herself, "I wonder if she made it. I guess it's better to try to get to the mainland than stay here and starve." So she attempts to swim out. The redhead had a lot more endurance than the brunette, as she swam out 10 miles before she even got tired. After 15 miles, she was too tired to go on, so she drowned.

So the blonde thought to herself, "I wonder if they made it! I think I'd better try to make it, too." So she swam out 5 miles, ten miles, fifteen miles, and finally nineteen miles from the island. The shore was just in sight, but she said, "I'm too tired to go on!" So she swam back.
